Communications / Position, Navigation, Timing (PNT)

Reliable, open, and secure communications between Earth and the Moon, as well as between locations on the lunar surface, is vital to controlling, operating and monitoring all lunar systems. Developing and refining standards for communications will broaden access and potentially allow greater capacity for data return to Earth.

Position, navigation, and timing (PNT) in cislunar space and the surface of the Moon is also critical to ensure safe operations. Interoperable PNT standards will ensure cooperative operations to avoid issues between services operating in close proximity.
